Who takes this class?

Mandarin class for Cantonese speaker course aims to develop participants’ competence in understanding and speaking Mandarin (pǔ tōng huà). This course is devised specifically for students who are Cantonese Speakers. The course concentrates on pronunciation and basic sentence structure using Hànyǔ Pīnyīn to enable students to learn standard Mandarin.

Cantonese and Mandarin are indeed considered to be two varieties of the Chinese language, and students who speak Cantonese may have significant differences in their foundation in Mandarin. The problems they encounter and the guidance they need can vary widely. As a result, this course is highly tailored to address the specific issues faced by each student. With such an approach, students can make rapid progress. Therefore, if you have a Cantonese background, this course would be the preferred choice for you.。

Why should I learn this class?

This course is devised specifically for students who are Cantonese Speakers.

If you have a Cantonese background, you need the guidance of a highly experienced teacher to quickly improve your Mandarin proficiency. Each Cantonese-speaking student has different issues, such as pronunciation, language structure, intonation, and more. Therefore, the starting point for addressing each student's problems is quite different. If the starting point is not well understood, it can affect future learning and the pace of learning. Sometimes, even students' misconceptions about language learning can lead to failure.

Toronto is a place where people with Cantonese backgrounds are concentrated. Our team, with decades of teaching experience and tens of thousands of hours of instruction to thousands of students, has developed some effective methods. These methods may be unexpected for most people, but practical experience has proven their effectiveness.

What is there to learn?

The course concentrates on pronunciation and basic sentence structure using Hànyǔ Pīnyīn to enable students to learn standard Mandarin.

Each student with a Cantonese background has unique focal points in their learning and practice. Furthermore, as the course progresses, the emphasis in each class may vary, and we make adjustments as needed. Sometimes, the focus is on practicing grammar structures, while at other times, it may be on honing pronunciation and tones. There are also instances where the emphasis is placed on practicing presentation skills.

Where can I take the class?

You can choose one or a combination of three methods: 'attend classes in our office,' 'online classes,' or 'self-study on our website with professional guidance from our teachers.'

Currently, we have three offices available for students to choose for attending classes in the Greater Toronto Area.

For online teaching, we primarily use Skype.

Our introduced method of 'self-study on our website with professional guidance from our teachers' can meet various scholars' different requirements in terms of study time, learning progress, and finances. Our teachers' professional guidance can help you save time, achieve continuous improvement, maintain motivation, and boost confidence.
